Board of management

The responsibility for Eastern Access Community Health (EACH) rests with its Board of Management. Members of the Board are accountable to the community and to the funding bodies, principally the Department of Human Services, for the overall governance and performance of the organisation.

The Board:

  • determines strategic direction and organisational policy
  • approves financial objectives, performance and plans
  • monitors the performance of the Chief Executive Officer and staff
  • ensures compliance with legal requirements and standards of performance

Membership of the Board

The Board comprises nine members, five elected by the membership of EACH Inc. and four appointed by the Governor-in-Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Health. Board members are elected or appointed for a term of three years.

Board membership is an honorary position with no fees or salaries paid to members. All perform their duties in a voluntary capacity.

EACH’s policies and practices

The Board has adopted policies to ensure that EACH provides a range of appropriate community health, mental health, disability and social support services and that these services are accessible, responsive and continuously improved. The Board continuously monitors EACH’s services for efficiency and effectiveness and ensures that all of the organisation’s activities are conducted in an accountable and transparent manner.

Members and the community are kept informed of all major developments and initiatives by the publication, from time-to-time, of bulletins and news items. Members are encouraged to nominate for positions on the Board at the appropriate times, and to exercise their right to vote at elections as part of the democratic process.

The Board encourages general members, service users and the community to contribute ideas and suggestions and to provide feedback to the Board and Management of EACH and looks forward to working closely with the wider community in providing high quality health and community support services
