The program supports the child and their family. It is available to children from birth to school entry who have a delay in two or more areas of development.

The program

each child Early Intervention program provides:

  • Assessment for children from birth to school entry
  • Therapy, education and family support, both individual and in small groups
  • Inclusive centre-based programs
  • Home programs
  • Support in local kindergarten and child care
  • Parent support
  • Assistance with issues affecting family wellbeing
  • Links to other services

Eligibility

Children from birth to school entry who have significant delay in two or more areas of their development.

Parent participation

Parents play a key role in their children’s development. It is important they take part in all aspects of the program to:

  • Help us understand their child and family
  • Develop skills and facilitate their child’s development
  • Set goals
  • Meet other parents.

Staff

  • Early childhood teacher (co-ordinator)
  • Consultancy with educational psychologist and family support
  • Occupational therapist
  • Speech pathologist

Program content

The program focuses on:

  • Attention and listening skills
  • Communication and language
  • Socialisation, play skills and behaviour management
  • Motor skills and sensory processing
  • Feeding, self-care and independence
