The each child Therapy and Support Team offers services to families with concerns about their child's speech or language development; bahviour; and emotional or general development

Speech Pathology

Speech pathologists see children from birth to school entry age with concerns such as:

• being a late talker
• stuttering
• difficulty saying particular sounds
• eating, drinking and feeding difficulties
• difficulty following instructions or putting sentences together

Treatment options include:

• group therapy
• individual therapy
• home programming.

Parents and service providers can make a referral by contacting the Intake Worker on 9837 3999.

Child Psychology

Child psychologists see children from birth to 12 years of age. OUr child pyschologists offer many services:

• psychological, cognitive, autism, deveopmental and behavioural assessments
• therapy sessions with the child/andor their family that often incorporate play
• counselling for the child that explores more effective ways of dealing with difficulties in a range of issues
• consultation with service providers like schools, pre-schools, child care and early intervention programs
• therapy groups for children and parents.

Family Support

A family support worker sees families in their home environment when extra support is needed in their parenting role. A family support worker:

• provides emotional and practical support
• helps families identify their strengths, needs and issues
• develops strategies with families to assist them in handling difficult issues
• supports families to implement the strategies
• works alongside families in extending their existing skills and developing new ones
• links families into the wider community
• co-ordinates parenting groups.

All members of the team consult with, and refer to, other service providers and professionals as required.
