EACH conducted a number of activities last week in support of National Homeless Persons Week including a staff breakfast, a Sleep Out, and the auctioning of the CEO (reserve price undisclosed).
Sleeping out under the stars! Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? “No it’s not” said a group of staff and young people from EACH’s Youth and Services program, who spent last Friday night sleeping outdoors on a extremely cold, wet evening to raise funds for the Melbourne Citymission’s Sleepout appeal and EACH’s Youth and Family Crisis Fund.
The group experienced the conditions that thousands of Australians suffer every night of the year. However, they were more fortunate than most. Live performances by rock bands, “One Fine Day” and “Friday’s Child”, an open fire, toasted marshmallows and roasted chestnuts and the company of good friends made the chilly, wet evening a bit more endurable.
Congratulations to all staff and young people who participated and especially to those who lasted the whole evening. Also, thank you to those who sponsored them.
