Gamblers Help Eastern is part of a statewide network of free and confidential Gambler’s Help services for gamblers, their families and/or extended network.

The philosophy of our service is harm minimisation. It provides for people wanting to reduce their gambling and those who want to stop.

We help people explore what gambling means to them and to look beyond the gambling to what might influence their gambling behaviour. We teach methods for containing the damage done by gambling.

We offer:

• Counselling—individually or together; for the gambler; for the gambler’s family, friends, work colleagues or others
• Financial counselling for the gambler and their family
• Focused work with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities with CALD counsellors (interpreters available)
• Information and education sessions across the region
• Community education in a range of settings
• Focused work with young people
• A self-directed support group for former gamblers
• Professional training and consultancy to community, local government, business and industry
• Focused work with the Indigenous Community
• Therapeutic groups
• Gambling and gaming industry liaison

What’s counselling about?

Counselling is an opportunity for a person to talk about things that trouble them in a safe and confidential setting with a person qualified and experienced in financial counselling, social work, or psychology.

They help people to describe and explore what is worrying them and together they look for a better understanding and ways to improve the situation.
