The Family Relationship Service for Carers (FRSC) is a statewide service providing counselling, mediation and future planning support to family members caring for someone of any age, with any of the following disabilities:

  • Intellectual
  • Physical
  • Neurological
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Sensory
  • Acquired Brian Injury
  • Mental Illness

Family meetings, interviews and counselling can occur at the counsellor's clinics or in the homes of the carer or family members but may also be done at other locations depending on need. These home visits or office based meetings may also result in information sharing regarding future planning resources to family members.

The provision of counselling for families is the main focus of the program. Counsellors have experience and expertise in the area of disability.

Family members may receive counselling to discuss a variety of issues to strengthen family relationships and the care of the family member with a disability through a limited number of counselling sessions.

All services offered by the FRSC are free to carers.

Clients are given the opportunity to evaluate the service.
