The Financial Counselling service is free to low income earners and Centrelink recipients living or working in the City of Maroondah, the City of Knox, Healesville, Yarra Junction and the surrounding areas.
Financial counsellors can offer...
- A free and confidential service
- Assessment of your financial situation
- Advice if you can’t pay bills, fines or debts
- Assistance to work out payments with creditors
- Help with budgeting
- Information about bankruptcy
- Information about possible government assistance
- Consumer information
- Information about your legal rights

- Provide you with knowledge to regain control over your finances
A financial counsellor won’t...
- Take over your finances or deal directly with money
- Offer investment advice
- Do tax returns
- Judge you on how you manage your money
What do I bring?
If possible please bring with you to your appointment:
- Loan contracts
- Debt statements, demands, bills, etc
- Any documents relating to your debts
- Letters from creditors
- Details of Centrelink and or income from all sources
- A list of creditors

The funding for this service is provided by Consumer Affairs Victoria on the approval of the Minister for Consumer Affairs.
