The City of Maroondah, located in Melbourne’s outer east includes a variety of suburb types – residential, commercial and industrial. 

  • It has an area of  61.4 square kilometers.
  • Maroondah is named after an aboriginal word meaning "leaf", which symbolises Maroondah's green environment.
  • Maroondah has three wards: Arrabri, Mullum and Wyreena, and nine Councillors.  
  • 99,198 residents live in Maroondah – 51,302 females and 47,896 males with a median age of 37 years.
  • There are 2 shopping precincts (Ringwood & Croydon) and 6,000 businesses in Maroondah.
  • The most common way to get to work nearly everywhere is by driving - 79% of travelers.  Women tend to use public transport to get to work more than men.
  • Maroondah has its own local community radio station, Eastern FM - 98.1 FM, while Eastern Regional Access is the Maroondah based TV station on Channel 31.
