MNILS®
The Maroondah No Interest Loan Scheme (MNILS®) is an accredited member of the National NILS® Network and operates according to the Common Principles and Accountability Guidelines as set out by the Network.
MNILS has it own management and operates independently.
Maximum amounts and purposes of loans are determined by the MNILS Committee of Management. MNILS is a community partnership between Heathmont Inter Church Help Inc and Eastern Access Community Health.
Who is eligible for this service?
People who:
- Live in the City of Maroondah
- Receive Centrelink payments or are on low incomes
- Have the ability to make repayments on the loan (usually between $10 to $40 per fortnight)
- Have been living in their current accommodation for at least six months
Assessment of eligibility for the service will be carried out at the time of the first phone contact.
What does it cost?
There are no application fees or interest charged on these loans.
Good Shepherd Buying Service
MNILS works in conjunction with the Good Shepherd Buying Service. This state-wide telephone service can assist you to obtain lower prices on essential household items.

(You must have a current Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card to use the Buying Service).
MNILS also has links with traders in the local area who support the loans program and can provide discount prices.
