Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP)

The Glen Innes Supported Youth Accommodation project (SAAP) provides housing and support to young people aged 16-25 years who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Young people stay at the Glen Innes home for up to a maximum of 2 years. During this time, the young people are assisted to:

  • achieve their personal goals
  • address issues effecting their lives including those which contributed to them becoming homeless
  • develop skills to enable them to live independently
  • transition to independent, safe and affordable housing
  • re-establish family links (if appropriate)

The Glen Innes Supported Youth Accommodation Program is supported by a volunteer from the community who lives in the house as a 'lead tenant'. The 'lead tenant' provides a safe, caring and supportivie living environment and assists the young people to further develop their independence.

House Manager

The House Manager assists the young people to achieve:

  • independent living through emotional support and personal development
  • education and training qualifications

Referral processes to appropriate services are made according to individual needs.

The House Manager supervises and supports the Lead Tenant.
