Counselling of children aims to support the child’s happiness, confidence, security, development, learning, wellbeing and safety.

Child and family counsellors use both child focused and child inclusive counselling strategies for children from infancy to 12 years and their families to support the child’s happiness, confidence, security, development, learning, wellbeing and safety.

A counselling plan is developed initially with involvement of the child’s parent/s with consideration to the child’s age, stage of development, learning needs, culture, gender, family circumstance, impact of family violence on the child.

Counselling plans may include individual or group therapy.

A cognitive assessment by a child psychologist is available in limited circumstances in consultation with the family and other health providers.

Referrals and assistance to engage with specialist services is provided.

  • Group Therapy
  • Individual therapy

Who can access this program?

This program may be available to children from birth to age 12.

What does it cost?

Fees per individual session Low income and health card holders No Cost, Medium Income $15.00, High Income $95.00, Groups $10.00. Your income level will be determined by first appointment.

When can this program be accessed?

This program can be accessed by appointment Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
