Payroll Project Officer is the perfect position for a self-described ‘tech nerd’ such as Luke D’Orazio.
Luke supports our frontline workers and develops the HR infrastructure that is crucial to our ability to grow.
His enthusiasm and pride for what he does is contagious; it’s impossible not to share his excitement for what’s to come.
Real impact – a domino effect
Since joining us in 2017, Luke has witnessed rapid expansion of our services and staff. At first, it was a challenge to keep up with the changes. But Luke has played a key role in streamlining processes, creating structure, and ensuring our technology can support our growth. Operating behind the scenes, Luke’s work is integral to keeping our wheels turning.
“I may work behind-the-scenes, but I know my efforts advance EACH’s overall goal to support our communities. In payroll, our job is to help our people to deliver exceptional services to our clients. I’m very proud of my contribution.”
People over profit
When Luke first ventured into the workforce as a young man, he gained experience in both the not-for-profit sector (NFP) and corporate world. But it didn’t take long to discover the place where he truly belonged.
“After working for a profit-driven company, I was drawn back to the NFP sector. I wanted to focus on people and community. When I learned more about EACH, I knew it would be somewhere I could thrive and make positive change.”
Luke says his parents instilled a strong work ethic in him, and encouraged him to pursue a career that aligned with his values.
“Mum, Dad, my twin brother and me… we’re a close unit. My parents are business-owners, and they taught me the importance of putting in hard work to reap the rewards. I count myself lucky to have good role models in my parents, and a good mate in my brother.”
Luke’s determination served him well early on. In fact, he earned certificates in Business Management before he even graduated high school. Now, with more than a decade of experience and a passion for payroll, he’s proving an invaluable asset to our team.
Connection, collaboration and commitment
It’s obvious Luke is extremely passionate about EACH and our mission. But he says it’s the supportive team environment at EACH that has kept him around for over four years.
“When we do company-wide activities, like cultural training, I come away feeling recharged. I’m a Pisces. I’m emotional; I care about people and how I make them feel when I interact with them. So my personal values of compassion and collaboration align with our values at EACH.”
Looking to the future, Luke speaks animatedly when describing the journey ahead. He’s clearly excited to be delivering technology that will future-proof our expansion.
“Once the new payroll and HR tech is in place, it’s going to drive growth. It’s challenging to find one software solution that suits everyone because we have such a wide range of positions at EACH – from Disability Support Workers to Child Psychologists. But I’m excited to develop my skill set as EACH continues to grow.”
Thank you, Luke, for all you bring. We’re excited to expand our services across Australia – with your support.
