Smiles 4 Miles: Knaith Road Childcare Centre and Kindergarten (Ringwood)

Learning that it’s never too early or too late to start looking after your teeth and gums to keep your smile for life.

As part of Dental Health Week, our CEO Natalie Sullivan along with our Oral Health Team visited Knaith Road Childcare Centre and Kindergarten, where children, families and staff were showing off their smiles to promote the Smiles 4 Miles program.

The Smiles 4 Miles program is an initiative of Dental Health Services Victoria, which works to improve the oral health of children, their families, early childhood staff and the wider community by promoting three key messages: Drink well, Eat well and Clean well.

To promote oral health at Knaith Road Childcare Centre and Kindergarten, the children participated in EACH’s Free Dental Screening Program, their menu was assessed by the Healthy Eating Advisory Service, and their Center’s Nutrition and Oral Health policies were revised to reflect the changes we hope to achieve.

EACH’s Smiles 4 Miles Coordinator, Diana Roggenbucke, says that during Dental Health Week, around 100 children from Knox and Maroondah Local Government areas will receive dental screenings.
