EACH welcomes the series of recommendations made in the final report handed down by the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health and Wellbeing System, and we commend the Victorian State Government’s commitment to implement every recommendation.
The recommendations are grouped around four key features:
- A responsive and integrated system with the community at its heart
- A system attuned to promoting inclusion and addressing inequities
- Re-established confidence through prioritisation and collaboration
- Contemporary and adaptable services.

We want to acknowledge and thank everyone who contributed to hearings or made a submission, especially people with lived experience and carers. It is these brave and powerful stories that will inform how we transform our mental health system.
EACH strongly supported this Royal Commission, our CEO, Peter Ruzyla had the opportunity to speak about accessing and navigating the mental health system at the public hearings in 2019.
As a major community mental health service provider, we see first hand the impacts of mental illness in the community. EACH stands ready to work with consumers, carers and families, in partnership with State Government and other mental health service providers to create a stronger, safer and more responsive mental health system.
