Join Us as a Part-time (3 days per week) Financial Counsellor at Each!

  • Hybrid Work Model: Based at Boronia on the lands of the Wurundjeri, Boon Wurrung & Bunurong Peoples | Outreach (Knox) | Work from home

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team at Each as a Financial Counsellor!

Your role, your impact

As a Financial Counsellor, you will provide free, confidential, and independent financial counselling services to empower clients to take charge of their financial futures. You will assist them in setting financial goals, advocate on their behalf, provide essential information and options and collaborate with legal and financial institutions to reduce financial difficulties. You will be able to identify systemic issues and advocate for change and work closely with allied services to ensure a holistic, integrated approach to client wellbeing.

What you'll be doing

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' financial situations.
  • Provide clients with practical information and options tailored to their circumstances.
  • Deliver top-notch financial counselling, casework and advocacy, negotiating with financial and legal institutions on behalf of clients.
  • Address family violence risk using the MARAM framework and coordinate responses with allied services.
  • Participate in local and state-wide projects aimed at reducing financial hardship in the community.
  • Maintain accurate data records and engage in regular professional development and supervision.

What we're looking for

  • Qualifications: Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling), eligibility for membership of Financial Counselling Victoria Inc., and completed (or willing to complete) family violence training.
  • Skills: Proven experience in financial counselling, knowledge of contemporary practice frameworks and a strong grasp of relevant legislation, and exceptional advocacy, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience: You thrive in a multidisciplinary environment, working with clients facing complex needs. Trauma-informed practice and family violence financial counselling experience is highly regarded.
