We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Youth and Family Counsellor to join our welcoming, multidisciplinary team based in Nunawading. This role is part of a free support service offered to young people who live, work, study, or spend time in the Outer Eastern areas of Melbourne, helping them and their families work through tough times and build stronger relationships.
Your role, your impact
As a Youth and Family Counsellor, you will:
- Deliver therapeutic counselling to young people and their families through one-on-one support, family work, or group work
- Facilitate recovery and development goals tailored to each young person
- Support families to rebuild connection and strengthen relationships
- Undertake assessments, intakes, and evaluations using best-practice approaches
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes
- Collaborate with the broader Youth Services team and contribute to service development

Who we’re looking for
You’re an empathetic, qualified professional who understands how to engage with young people in a way that builds trust, safety, and hope. You’ll also bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Science or a related field
- A current driver’s licence
- Experience supporting young people and families in a therapeutic setting
- Knowledge of youth mental health, trauma, family conflict, and homelessness
- An understanding of adolescent development and the social model of health
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity, including experience working with diverse and Aboriginal communities
