Help families heal. Empower recovery. Make a lasting impact.

Are you a trauma-informed counsellor or therapeutic practitioner ready to walk alongside families as they recover from the impacts of family violence?

Join our Pathways to Resilience Southern program—a partnership between Each, Uniting, and the Australian Childhood Foundation—providing specialised therapeutic support to children, young people, and families. Through individual counselling, group work, and family-focused interventions, we foster healing, connection, and resilience.

Services are delivered in person at our Narre Warren centre and online. While the role is primarily site-based, there may be opportunities to work from home occasionally, depending on client needs and program requirements.

Your role, your impact

As a Family Violence Therapeutic Specialist, you will:

  • Provide trauma-informed counselling to individuals, children, young people, and their caregivers
  • Conduct trauma assessments and co-create treatment plans with clients
  • Use the MARAM framework to assess and respond to risk and safety
  • Facilitate inclusive, empowering sessions that centre client voice and lived experience
  • Support relational healing through attachment-based and developmentally informed approaches
  • Deliver culturally responsive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTIQ+, and CALD clients
  • Contribute to sector development through training and consultation
  • Collaborate with other professionals to provide a coordinated, family-centred response

Hours: 1 FTE, 9am–5:06pm with flexibility for occasional after-hours work

  • At least 2 years of counselling experience, ideally in trauma or family violence
  • Strong understanding of trauma, neurobiology, and child development
  • Ability to centre the voices of children and young people in therapeutic work
  • An intersectional lens and experience working with diverse communities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally
