  • Based in Hervey Bay, QLD on the lands of the Butchulla Nation | Hybrid working model 
  • From $51.23 per hour + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

Commonwealth Financial Counselling and Capability services offer free, confidential support to individuals experiencing financial stress. The program helps people understand their financial situation, explore options, and build long-term financial skills through counselling, education, and advocacy. Services are tailored to meet cultural and community needs, with a focus on early intervention, empowerment, and employment readiness. 

Your role, your impact 

As a Financial Counsellor, you’ll provide compassionate, confidential support to individuals experiencing financial stress. You’ll help people navigate complex financial situations, advocate on their behalf, and build their financial capability to support long-term wellbeing and employment readiness. 

• Deliver comprehensive financial counselling through assessment, casework, and advocacy 
• Create tailored case plans that consider cultural, social, and mental health factors 
• Build strong relationships with allied services to provide holistic support 
• Participate in community engagement activities and contribute to program development 
• Maintain accurate records in Each's client management system uphold compliance standards 
• Engage in supervision, contribute to service planning and improvement, team meetings and professional development to grow your expertise 

Who we’re looking for 

• Diploma of Community Services – Financial Counselling (completed) 
• Membership with Financial Counselling Queensland (FCQ) 
• Current driver’s license 
• Experience in financial counselling  
• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and interpersonal skills 
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and support services 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
