  • Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

About the program
The Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT) is part of headspace Early Psychosis, providing specialist outreach and centre-based support for young people aged 12–25 who are at risk of or experiencing first episode psychosis. Our multidisciplinary team delivers evidence-based, youth-friendly care, supporting recovery and positive futures for young people and their families.

Your role, your impact
As a Senior Clinician, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting young people and their families through early intervention, crisis management, and ongoing recovery. You’ll lead clinical processes, provide supervision and mentoring, and ensure high-quality, integrated care across the mental health spectrum.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage clinical triage, assessment, and intervention for young people aged 12–25
  • Lead mental state examinations, risk assessments, and case formulations
  • Deliver home-based and outreach support, including crisis intervention
  • Support the functional recovery program and ensure continuity of care
  • Collaborate with GPs, mental health providers, and community partners
  • Participate in intake, triage, and timely referral to Early Psychosis services
  • Supervise and mentor clinicians, fostering a youth-friendly, recovery-focused team culture
  • Contribute to service improvement, quality systems, and training initiatives

Who we’re looking for

  • 3–5 years clinical experience in acute inpatient and community-based care
  • Experience working with young people experiencing or at risk of first episode psychosis
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and team coordination skills
  • Advanced clinical skills in assessment, risk management, and crisis intervention
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Current Australian driver’s licence
  • Mandatory qualifications (must have one of the following):
    • Registered Nurse: Bachelor’s degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, with AHPRA registration
    • Occupational Therapist: Current registration with AHPRA
    • Psychologist: Registration with AHPRA (clinical endorsement or willingness to undertake registrar program)
    • Social Worker: Approved degree and eligibility for AASW membership

  • Familiarity with the Tasmanian Mental Health system
  • Understanding of early psychosis principles and recovery frameworks
  • Experience in service development, research, or quality improvement
