  • FTE: Part-time (0.6 FTE) ongoing position available
  • Location:  Based on the eastern shores of nipaluna/Hobart in lutruwita/Tasmania – On-site role with outreach required
  • Salary: $51.23 – $54.39 per hour  (Level 5, SACS) + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

About the program
headspace Eastern Shore (12-25) and headspace Early Psychosis is a youth and family-friendly mental health service for young people (15–25) experiencing or at risk of psychosis. Our multidisciplinary team delivers evidence-based, recovery-focused care, supporting young people and their families through assessment, intervention, and ongoing support. The MATT and CCT teams provide assertive outreach, crisis management, and intensive engagement, helping young people build resilience and hope for the future.

Your role, your impact
As a Family Clinician, you’ll deliver high-quality, evidence-based counselling and flexible support to family members and carers of young people. Your work will help families navigate complex mental health challenges, build resilience, and foster hope. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team, making a real difference in the lives of young people and their support networks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based counselling to family members and carers of young people.
  • Provide flexible support through both in-person and online modalities.
  • Contribute to assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and evaluation.
  • Develop and manage safety plans where required.
  • Facilitate single-session interventions and collect developmental history information.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external service providers.
  • Maintain accurate client records and reporting in line with organisational requirements.
  • Foster a positive and supportive team culture.

 

Who we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in mental health, AOD, social sciences, psychology, social work, youth work, occupational therapy, or a related field (mandatory).
  • Full Driver’s Licence (mandatory).
  • Experience delivering counselling and support to families or carers.
  • Skilled in group facilitation, program planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and client management systems.
  • Ability to engage assertively and empathetically with diverse individuals.

 

What will make you stand out

  • Qualification in Family Therapy (desirable).
  • Experience in the Not-For-Profit or health sectors.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and family-centred practice.
