  • Part time (0.6 FTE) ongoing role
  • Work across headspace Narre Warren & Pakenham centres, on the lands of the Bunurong and Wurundjeri People
  • Salary dependent upon quals & experience + 12% Super + Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

Join our dynamic headspace School Services team and partner with local schools and communities across the Casey Cardinia region to deliver accessible, evidence-based mental health support for young people that are experiencing mental health difficulties and co-occurring issues (inclusive school disengagement).


Your role, your impact
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will:

  • Manage health assessments for young people, identifying needs and determining suitability for services
  • Own individual counselling and brief care coordination, supporting both young people and their families
  • Create flexible service delivery pathways, including evidence-based psychological interventions for disengaged youth
  • Build connections with young people, families, and community services, promoting early help-seeking and seamless treatment pathways
  • Lead group programs at the centre and/or local schools and participate in community awareness activities
  • Maintain clinical notes and care plans using our Client Management System
  • Support training and consultation for school staff, contributing to best practice and continuous improvement
  • Participate in reflective practice and contribute to a harmonious, inclusive team environment


Who we’re looking for
To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, or related discipline
  • Eligibility for membership with AASW (if Social Worker) or APHRA registration
  • Experience working in youth mental health, school-based programs, or community outreach
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for young people
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive stakeholder relationships
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities, particularly with young people
  • The ability to work with families and carers in complex care situations

  • Experience working with diverse communities, including LGBTIQA+, ATSI, refugees, people with a disability, and neurodivergent individuals
  • Skills in delivering group programs and community engagement 
  • High level of computer literacy and experience with electronic medical records
