  • Part-time, ongoing position (0.6 FTE – Wednesday, Thursday & Friday)
  • Based at our Knox (Wantirna South) site
  • Play a pivotal role in providing equitable access to youth mental health services
  • $51.26 - $54.39p/hr (subject to experience) + Super + Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

We're seeking a Youth Mental Health Intake & Assessment Coordinator to join our dynamic team. As part of the Mental Health Community Support Services (MHCSS) intake team, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and equitable access to mental health services for individuals aged 16 - 25 across the Eastern, Northern, Inner East, and South Eastern Melbourne catchments.

In this dynamic role, you will:

  • Incoming referrals management: Manage incoming referrals from individuals, carers, mental health agencies, and community health services.
  • Oversee intake process: Oversee the intake process for our Youth Residential Recovery Program and Youth Outreach Recovery Service.
  • Referral coordination and service promotion: Coordinate referrals, chair selection panels, and promote our services to potential referral agencies and consumers.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Collaborate with other Each intake services and external stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Initial assessment and prioritisation: Complete initial needs identification, mental health screening, risk assessments, and selection panel prioritisation.
  • Program development involvement: Actively participate in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Who we're looking for 
To excel in this role, you will possess the following qualifications, skills & experience:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in youth developmental needs, mental health, and recovery work
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people with complex mental health needs, including treatment, support, and rehabilitation approaches
  • Experience in screening and assessing individuals with mental health needs and co-occurring issues
  • Understanding of harm minimization approaches to dual diagnosis (substance misuse and mental health issues)
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with diverse individuals
  • Ability to triage and prioritise referrals and risks

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification or a tertiary qualification plus relevant experience, in Health, Community Services, Mental Health, Disability, Psychology or other relevant and/or related discipline
