  • Contract Type: Contractor (Flexible hours dependent on caseload) until June 2027 (with the possibility of extension)
  • Locations: Byron Bay (Bundjalung Nation), Coffs Harbour (Gumbaynggirr Nation), Port Macquarie (Birpai Nation) – or work from your own office/space
  • Remuneration: $100 p/h
  • Start Date: Immediate opportunities available
  • Program: Primary Mental Health Program – Therapeutic Alliance Consortium

About the Opportunity
We’re seeking Credentialled Mental Health Nurses to support the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred mental health services across the North Coast of NSW. As a contractor, you’ll enjoy full flexibility, set your own hours, choose your preferred days, and work from one of our offices or from your own established practice.

You’ll be part of the Therapeutic Alliance, a consortium of community‑based, not‑for‑profit organisations delivering the Primary Mental Health Program through a multidisciplinary, hub‑and‑spoke model of care.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a CMHN contractor, you will play a vital role in supporting people with complex mental health needs. Your work may include:

  • Clinical care coordination with psychiatrists, GPs, and multidisciplinary clinicians inclusive of peer workers
  • Providing evidence‑based interventions in individual, family, or group settings
  • Conducting holistic assessments and developing tailored care plans
  • Participating in case reviews and collaborative care discussions
  • Delivering culturally responsive and trauma‑informed services
  • Supporting quality improvement initiatives within the program

You’ll be supported by a collaborative team environment, with access to clinical consultation and opportunities to connect with other mental health professionals.

Qualifications

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Credentialled Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) 
  • A current ABN
  • Your own professional indemnity and public liability insurance

    You’re a Credentialled Mental Health Nurse who is passionate about delivering high‑quality, recovery‑oriented mental health care. You bring:

    • Expertise in mental health interventions for complex and severe presentations
    • Strong skills in risk assessment, safety planning, and after‑care coordination
    • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as dialectical behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, and recovery‑based models
    • Ability to provide in person appointments
    • A commitment to culturally safe and person‑centred practice
    • The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team
